About Me

About me. About me?

My name is Kimberly. I was homeschooled preschool through 12th, and started taking CLEP exams my senior year in high school. After being wait-listed at my first choice college, I took a “gap year” that ended up being two years, then I moved to Taiwan to teach English with a missions group. It was there I got re-motivated try to finish college so I put together an excel spreadsheet mapping out what I needed to do to finish my degree. About a year and a half later, I graduated with a BA in English from Thomas Edison State University!

My parents taught me young to stay away from credit cards, and I always felt like starting my adult life up to my eyeballs in debt for a degree I wasn’t even convinced I needed had to be one of the worst ideas ever. It wasn’t until I was about 16 that I decided I did kind of want to work towards a degree, more as a smart move than a super-critical career move, so I began scouring the internet for, well… hacks.

That’s basically how I got here. As for me

I currently work as an online English tutor for students in South Korea. I LOVE my students and teaching, and it’s a really good outlet for me to express my Grammar Nazi side. I have formerly taught TESOL in a classroom environment, as well, in 2017-2018 in Chiayi, Taiwan. Teaching has stretched me in ways I could have never imagined, and I have learned so much about God, myself, and the various cultures I have worked in throughout my teaching experiences!

Something else I really enjoy is photography! I first got my DSLR in 2015, and totally fell in love with it. Photography is relaxing for me, and there is nothing more just completely peaceful than exploring a new place with a camera in hand. Because of this [mild] obsession, I started out doing a lot of travel photography, but I have recently transitioned into more portraiture and even wedding photography—my dream come true!

In my free time I enjoy reading and writing, finding a good hike with pretty views, and playing piano. I’m always down for attempting a new recipe or a game night with family and friends. Nice to meet you! 🙂
